Dear Truth Seekers,

It is true that Vedas adore so many devatas or gods. Many non-Hindus take pride in their Monotheistic view and ridicule Hindus as polytheists. Many Hindus become defensive and say that Vedas ultimately preach Advaita or Monism where there is no God or world but only one nameless/formless ultimate reality called Brahman. This may not help an average Hindu who in the empirical world of vyavahara has special love for a particular deity/God adored in the Vedas. Such Hindus hold that Vedas ultimately teach Monotheism only. But then they become clueless when it comes to decide who is that supreme Godhead adored in the Vedas. Is it Vishnu or Shiva or Devi or Surya or Ganesha - there is a big confusion.

All Hindus accept the validity of Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and the Brahma Sutra which form the basis for Hindu Vedanta philosophy and there have been many commentators in the past. Sri Adi Shankaracharya ,who was the first one, established the Advaita philosophy and he is well known to have supported six different monotheistic paths/religions. Sri Ramanuja, Sri Madhva and many others all uphold supremacy of Vishnu. Many fanatic Vishnu devotees emphatically put down other gods as inferior and even claim that Adi Shankara was a Vishnu devotee. But still there are so many among Hindus who hold Shiva, Devi and other Godheads as supreme. Many of them who are followers of Shankara and Advaita philosophy claim that Shiva is supreme. There have been so many debates in the past resulting in mutual hatred and fights. Recently many Vaishnavas and Shaivas have setup websites/blogs bashing each other's gods/gurus and engaging in mutual mudslinging.

This kind of internal fight among Hindus is detrimental to Hindu society. If we Hindus who are known for our tolerance and broad-mindedness start fighting and hating our own gods then we are no better than other Abrahamic religions that constantly fight and hate other gods. Other non-Vedic and Abrahamic religions may even encourage such mad fanatic mentality among Hindus so that they can break Hindus apart and finally covert them.

We Hindus who are spiritual and philosophical can surely do better and our scripture Vedas are there to bring peace for all the three worlds of devas / gods, humans and the sub-human species. By the grace of all the many Acharyas and all the many gods and the supreme Brahman I will make a humble attempt to establish the universal Vedic view that unites and strengthens all Hindus.

All Hindus, accept that, Brahman, the ultimate vedic reality, pervades the entire universe and indwells in all as the inner Self. So Brahman, the supreme God is the inner Self of all and so takes all names and forms. This universal, all encompassing "Brahmic" (spiritual) view unites all Hindus, sincere truth seekers and also acts as a weapon that cuts across all conflicting "A-brahamic" (particular) (views
